Carrot Amsterdam Forcing (Early)

A tasty early maturing variety from sowings under glass, also suitable for later sowings outdoors. Can be harvested as baby carrots. Good colour and ideal for the freezer.

Carrots like an open, dry site and light, fertile soil with a pH of 6.5-7.5. dig in some manure or compost and ensure the ground is free of stones and not compacted – otherwise the roots tend to fork. For this reason raised beds are ideal.

Sow 1-2cm (1/2-3/4″) deep.
Sow 2.5cm (1″) apart thinning to 10cm (4″) apart.
Rows 30cm (12″) apart.
