Very popular long cylindrical roots of good colour and weight. Very hardy and can be left in the ground over winter until required.
Carrots like an open, dry site and light, fertile soil with a pH of 6.5-7.5. Dig in some manure or compost and ensure the ground is free of stones and not compacted, otherwise the roots tend to fork. For this reason raised beds are ideal.
Sow 1-2cm (1/2-3/4″) deep.
Sow 2.5cm (1″) apart thinning to 10cm (4″) apart.
Rows 30cm (12″) apart.
