A decorative purple podded variety with long string-less pods which turn green when cooked. Strong growing with a fine flavour.

French beans dislike wind and cold and a sudden frost will kill them so grow in a warm and sunny sheltered spot and plant out in June. They grow best in a fertile soil with plenty of organic matter dug in, this should be neutral to slightly acidic with a pH of 5.5-7.
Sow 5cm (2″) deep.
Plant 30cm (12″) apart.
Space rows 45cm (18″) apart.
