Good yields of long, stringless pods with a delicious flavour. Large red and white flowers which look good in containers, at the front of flower borders and the vegetable plot.
Runner beans do best in a sunny, sheltered position where they are not effected by the wind. They require a deep, fertile soil that has had lots of well-rotted compost or manure dug into it.
Runner Beans are frost tender and can only be sown outdoors when the chance of frost as passed. Sow seeds 5cm (2″) deep into small pots undercover April/May; harden off and plant out once the risk of frost has passed.
Plant 23-30cm (9-12″) apart.
Space rows 60cm (2ft) apart.
